Selling with Integrity: Beliefs

On the Profitable Joyful Consulting podcast, I teach you how to increase your profits and enjoy your business more. In this episode, you’ll learn how to sell with integrity and finally feel good about selling.

I was inspired to talk about this by a sales meeting I had with someone this week where I was in the position of being sold to. I’d brought my husband to hear about a program I was super excited about, and I asked the person running it to tell us a little more about the program.

He stammered for a minute and then said, “Well, this isn’t a predatory call.”

I thought, that’s weird. Why would he use that word? Because I’m really excited and I want to enroll.

The program had three levels, and I asked him to tell us more about that and so he did. Eventually I said, ‘Wow, this is so exciting. When can I enroll and how does that work?”

He said again, “Well, this isn’t a predatory call.”

Again, I was just stopped in my tracks.

I thought, I’m not a gazelle. I don’t feel like I’m being preyed upon. I came to this to hear more about the program because I want to buy it.

It was clear that he really didn’t want to look as if he were selling us something. But what happened was actually worse:

His limiting beliefs about selling were getting in the way of his ability to explain the program to me and my ability to make a decision about whether this is the right next step for us to take.

We can’t even start talking about selling with integrity until we understand our limiting beliefs. That’s where we start in this episode –  with working through your limiting beliefs about selling.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • The common limiting beliefs about selling that keep you from helping people
  • How to sell in a way that creates agency and freedom of decision on both sides so you can feel good about selling
  • How to reframe the selling process as a process of serving so you can help more people
  • How to lead the sales process with integrity so you can help clients make the best decisions for themselves and their businesses
